Those who have seen the movie may say that Summer wasn’t a good enough woman. After all, didn’t she lead Tom on? Look a lot closer though. Was she the villain? According to Joseph Gordon-Levitt who played Tom that she was obviously not. He simply projected all his fantasies into her and wanted her to be the woman for him, which she clearly wasn’t. Hence, it wasn’t her fault that she couldn’t fill those large shoes. Don’t worry, he eventually did get his happy ending, but in the most unexpected way possible.
