Considering that I Love Lucy first came out in 1951, there were a lot of firsts that occurred on their show. Yet one of the biggest things that happened was that it was the very first show to have a real, live audience. Unlike all the shows that came before it, which always used canned laughter, the producers chose to move into the future of TV by having real people there on set.
