She Almost Choked to Death During a Scene

Lucille was known for her incredible comedic prowess and commanding presence when she was on stage. So when they shot the “Lucy’s Italian Movie” episode, those on set had no idea that there was one part where she wasn’t actually acting. During a fake fight with one of the other actors as they were mushing grapes underfoot, the woman held Lucy’s head underneath the grape mush that Lucy almost drowned! Of course no one knew until the scene was over and Lucille actually mentioned it to them.
