There is no doubt that I Love Lucy was an amazing show, and there are a number of reasons why it was so good. For one, Lucille and Desi had some amazing comedic chemistry, and it made for one of the funniest things to watch on television. But despite how funny it was, one interesting tidbit is that the actors were never allowed to ad-lib. In fact, there was a rule about it, and producers would hold up cue cards to make sure that the cast didn’t stray from their lines. Lucille Ball even said, “We never ad-libbed. We never ad-libbed on the set when we were putting it together. It was there.”
