10. Hallucinations

Another sign that someone has dementia is if they start hallucinating. Sometimes they can be described as flashing lights or seeing people, animals or certain situations, then there are other times when these hallucinations ‘can involve hearing, smelling, tasting or feelings things that do not really exist.’ Many times though, they have hallucinations that are more like lapses in time, where they are actually remembering events from before. It doesn’t necessarily mean that what they think they are sensing isn’t real, but these are probably memories of things that took place many years before.
