One look at Earring Magic Ken and we can only imagine all the questions that both kids and parents alike had about this very interesting Ken doll. It’s obvious that his name comes from the earring he’s sporting on his left ear, but one has to wonder about the “magic” part. With his mesh shirt, purple leather vest and silver necklace, Mattel could have named him the George Michael doll instead, but then they would have had to pay royalties to the singer himself now wouldn’t they? Mattel went on to boast that it was their “best-selling Ken doll of all time,” but it makes us wonder, who was actually buying them?
