Back in 1998, Tiger Electronics released a toy called Furby, but they couldn’t have known just how huge a hit they would become. They not only were the “must-have” toy of the year, they eventually sold over 40 million pieces in the first three years of production alone. Many people thought that they were knockoffs of gremlins with their huge eyes, giant ears and furry body, but that’s where they similarities ended. These Furbies spoke their own language called “Furbish,” which eventually included some English words in it as well. The only question left to ask, even two decades later is, what the heck are they?
