Here is yet another doll from Mattel’s Barbie series, Mexican Barbie. Although she came from the Dolls of the World collection, many still cried foul due to her very stereotypical representation of our female friends from down south. They put her in the frilliest and pinkest fiesta dress they could create, gave her a cutesy pink passport, and added a chihuahua to the mix, since that tiny breed’s origins began in Mexico. There was such a fuss that Mattel changed the doll to wear a Mariachi outfit instead. But honestly, no one thought that it was any better.
