This much older generation Barbie was another way of stereotyping females, making them believe that they needed to stay thin forever. This 60s Weight Loss Barbie not only came with a scale that didn’t move away from 110 pounds, she also had a book on How to Lose Weight complete with a reminder of “Don’t Eat!” to warn girls that they needed to watch their weight gain at all costs! Barbie may still be struggling to keep up with the more realistic body images of today, but they’re no longer promoting anorexia!
