Antidepressants

Source: https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/

Patients with Bipolar disorder are sometimes given an antidepressant to help with their depressive or “low” periods. However, these drugs can, in some cases, cause a manic episode to flare up, which is why these are usually given in tandem with a mood stabilizer or antipsychotic drug.
Examples of antidepressants include sertraline (Zoloft), fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem), citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Lexapro), paroxetine (Paxil, Pexeva, Brisdelle), and fluvoxamine (Luvox).
