Idolized actor who is best remembered as a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement. This was portrayed in his most celebrated film Rebel Without A Cause, in which he starred as a troubled teenager. His untimely death was due to a car crash while driving a Porsche sports car. He was fond of race cars and was interested in developing an auto racing career. According to reports, Dean slammed into a Ford Tudor passing through an intersection, which caused his car to bounce several times across the pavement resulting in fatal injuries. His passenger, the mechanic who convinced him to test drive the car from Los Angeles to Salinas, was thrown from the car. There is a saying that “only the good die young,” whether it applies to James Dean is not really relevant. He surely may have been controversial but was adored by many teenagers across the nation.
