Considered by many as the greatest rock guitarist of all time, though there are several others that are qualified for the honor. He began playing the guitar at the age of 15, and started playing in small gigs and backup bands. Moving to England in 1966 was a game changer for the rock star. It was a turning point that helped create the legend. But as all good things come to an end, Hendrix eventually died in London from a barbiturate-related asphyxia. There was a dispute regarding his death, but the post-mortem showed he suffocated on his own vomit due to intoxication with barbiturates. Hendrix’s body was embalmed and flown to Seattle on September 29, 1970. Family and friends travelled to his funeral in 24 limousines and about 200 people attended the funeral. However thousands in the US and UK joined in the mourning, including other well known musicians, politicians, and fans. He left a lasting legacy as the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.
