Amy Winehouse was a popular and talented English singer and songwriter. She was known for her deep, expressive contralto vocals, and her eclectic mix of musical genres, particularly soul, jazz, and R & B. She was very successful at her young age, and was idolized by many aspiring female singers starting out. However, her success was plagued by drug and alcohol addiction. She succumbed to alcohol poisoning on July 23, 2011, at the young age of 27. Many fans mourned her death, even though she was a troubled person. But the controversy continued even after her death. The documentary Amy by director Asif Kapadia about the life and death of amy Winehouse stirred a lot of emotions. “I was angry and I wanted the audience to be angry,” kapadia said. He never met the singer, and never saw her perform live, he claims to have had just a basic knowledge of her story. Well there will always be pros and cons to any controversial issue, but no one can doubt the talent surely will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Amy.
