Who doesn’t know David Bowie? This English singer- songwriter and actor was a leading figure in the music industry, and was well known all over the world. Few though know that he was born David Robert Jones, and that he was also a painting enthusiast and art collector. Upon his death, his family auctioned off his art collection which fetched a total of $41.5 million. He openly declared himself to be bisexual even during the 1970s which was very brave of him as it was not openly accepted by society. Yet he continued to create hits in the music industry, doing theatre and eventually film without much controversy about his sexuality. On January 10, 2016, 2 days after his 69th birthday and the release of the album Blackstar, Bowie died of liver cancer in his New York apartment. As he wished, his ashes were scattered in a Budhist ceremony in Bali, Indonesia. His final album Blackstar starts with the words “Look up here, I’m in Heaven.” We are sure you are dear sir.
