Gene Wilder was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as Jerome Silberman. He was an American actor, screenwriter, director,producer, author, and singer-songwriter. This funny man has had a successful career in whatever he set his sights on. As an actor, he has entertained us for several decades with his unique wit and uncanny humorous persona. He has received several awards, including a couple of Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor – Comedy or Musical, and also 2 Academy Awards. But there was more to Gene Wilder than awards, he truly was a remarkable human being. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 83 on August 29, 2016, at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, from complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He kept his ailment private, but was diagnosed 3 years prior to his death. He did not want to sadden his fans, his nephew stated. Well they surely were saddened by his passing, yet will continue to be nourished by his memory.
