Third Stage: AIDS Symptoms

Source: http://nritribune.com

This is the advanced stage of HIV infection. This is usually when your CD4 cells drop below 200 and your immune system is badly damaged. You will be more prone to illnesses, such as Kaposi’s sarcoma (a form of skin cancer), and pneumocystis pneumonia (a lung disease), which are considered as “AIDS-defining illnesses.” Symptoms would be: swollen lymph nodes in your neck and/or groin, fever that lasts for around 10 days, feeling tired all the time, weight loss for no obvious reason, night sweat, shortness of breath, purplish spots on your skin that don’t go away, severe long lasting diarrhea, bruises or bleeding you can’t explain & yeast infections (mouth, throat, vagina)
Sadly, people with AIDS who don’t take medication live to about 3 years, or less if they get another infection. But if treated right away, and living a healthy life, you can live a longer time. Just follow the doctor’s advice and take your medications religiously.
