The Duke Semans Mansion is one of the last private residences that can be found on that portion of Fifth Avenue. It was bought by Carlos Slim Helu whose net worth sits around $77 billion. The 8-floor house is right across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has a gorgeous view of Central Park. The house is around 20,000-square feet with ‘high ceilings, gold-leaf trimmed fixtures and a sweeping staircase.’ And while it’s completely extravagant and possible a tad too excessive in the first place, funnily enough, Helu prefers to live in a modest 6-bedroom house in his hometown of Mexico City.
