This region in California is known as the playground of the great white sharks. Bolinas Beach is at the center of this shark infested area, and is not recommended for anyone to enter the waters. It begins around Bodega Bay and stretches out south, close to 50 miles west of San Francisco. The triangle is known to be the area in the US where 38% of shark attacks happen, particularly from great whites. Researchers believe it is because it is a food mecca for the sharks, with an endless food supply available. Sea lions, elephant seals, harbor seals, otters, and occasionally, humans. So if you want to enjoy the California sun, sand, and sea, this is not the place to be.
