California has many awesome lakes that you could enjoy a dip in. But Horseshoe Lake is definitely not one of them. It may look calm and serene, but its waters are dangerous. It is full of carbon dioxide and other gases from the magma beneath. Looks like a great outdoor place for an outing – sandy beaches, scenic trails, picnic areas, etc. Just don’t get in the water.
