Chowpatty Beach, India

This beach in India may not have the box jellyfish of Australia, or the rip currents of America, but it is the most polluted beach in the world. Years upon years of abuse by visitors have made the beach as horrible as it is today, yet locals still frequent the place. We suppose if that is the only beach near them, it will still attract locals. Besides, they may gotten used to the stench, but surely not the diseases that could infect them. As a visitor, you wouldn’t even want to go as near as 100 yards from this place. Industrial waste has also infected this beach, as if it was an approved dumping site. The fecal bacteria level in the water was 1455/100ml, much higher than the tolerable 500/100ml. And that was years ago.
