Much like humans, dogs blink in order to keep their eyes moisturized. And amazingly, they can even wink, closing one eye rather than both. But aside from trying to keep their eyes from getting dry, another reason that they blink is for communication. This is how they show others that they are friendly, their own way of saying “I come in peace. I mean no harm!” so that the person can feel at ease with them, and vice versa.
