Tail Wagging At A Slow Or Fast Pace

Most people assume that the way a dog wags their tail shows how friendly they are, that if they wag slowly they aren’t going to be your best buddy, but if it’s wagging fast, then they’re just so happy to see you. But according to Veterinarian Dr. Carlo Siracusa, “Tail wagging is what a lot people look at the most for gauging whether a dog is friendly or not, and even veterinarians rely on it, but this often isn’t very helpful. In other words, a tail wag means that the dog is open to interactions, not that the dog is friendly.” So before you go reaching out to pet a furry friend, don’t rely on their tail wagging as a sign of friendliness. Profuse wagging could also mean that they are incredibly wary of you too.
