On June 8, 1933, Joan Alexandra Molinsky was born. She is professionally known as Joan Rivers. Joan Rivers was a well-known American comedian, actress, writer, producer, and television host. In 1965, she gained distinction as a guest on The Tonight Show. The Tonight Show at this time was still hosted by Johnny Carson, who was a mentor to Joan Rivers. On the Tonight Show, Rivers’ was able to establish her comedic style. Then by 1986, Rivers’ became the first woman to host a late-night network television talk show, The Late Show with Joan Rivers. She eventually hosted The Joan Rivers Show (1989 to 1993), on this show, she won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host. She remained active and was a popular comedian and host until 2014. She was famous for her often-contentious comedic style; which was self-deprecating and sarcastic, especially towards politicians and celebrities. Joan Rivers passed away on September 4, 2014, she died from brain damage caused by lack of oxygen.
Joan Rivers was frank and outspoken about her multiple cosmetic surgeries. In 2008, she even wrote about her eye lift, nose job, and breast augmentation in her book titled, “Men Are Stupid…And They Like Big Boobs: A Woman’s Guide to Beauty Through Plastic Surgery”. She even wrote, “Looking good, equals feeling good… I’d rather look younger and feel happy than look older and be depressed.”
