Another oldie but goodie romance that ruined real-life relationships. In 1958, Newman starred opposite Woodward in the film “The Long Hot Summer.” It was about a man on the run (played by Newman) hired by a wealthy plantation owner in a small town in Mississippi. Newman’s character fell in love with the daughter of the plantation owner, played by Woodward. But they really fell in love. Newman was then married to Jackie Witte, but after he fell in love with Woodward, quickly divorced. The couple that fell in love on the set were married for 50 years, until Newman’s death in 2008. They had three children, Elinor Teresa (born 1959), Melissa Stewart (born 1961), and Claire Olivia (born 1965).
