Another iconic couple during the 1940s that made headlines. Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were “kissing” friends as they liked to consider themselves then. But in a pivotal scene in 1944’s “To Have And Have Not”, people noticed their behavior escalating. Bogart was at 44, 25 years older than the 19 year old Bacall. But Bogart was then married to mentally unstable actress Mayo Methot who was enraged by the romance. Bogart, who was actually stabbed by Methot, saw an opportunity to get out of the crazed marriage. He eventually got a divorce soon after the movie. He then married Bacall, and they stayed happily together until his death in 1957. They had 11 years of bliss. She married Jason Robards in 1961 until 1969.
