Also known as Makaveli, Tupac Shakur was undoubtedly one of rap’s greatest artists. But did you know that he acted on the big screen as well? Shakur appeared on film for the first time in a movie called “Nothing but Trouble,” in which he had a cameo appearance. His first starring role came by way of the 1992 film, “Juice,” playing the role of a hot-headed and violent gang member for which he was hailed as “the film’s most magnetic figure” by Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers.

Other movies of his include 1993’s “Poetic Justice,” in which he starred opposite Janet Jackson; 1994’s “Above the Rim,” 1996’s Bullet, and 1997’s “Gridlock’d” and “Gang Related.” He was also rumored to have read for the role of Mace Windu in George Lucas’ “Starwars Epsiode I: The Phantom Menace,” a role that Samuel L. Jackson eventually landed.

Shakur was a charismatic figure even before he was famous, which was probably why people were drawn to him. Among the many friends Shakur had was Twitter user @Willyboss567’s uncle, whose picture he shared online. He captioned the photo: “My uncle and his best friend.”
