It would seem that the magazine would get both the negative and the positive reactions when it came to their publications, and it just spurred the editors on. In 1978, one of the most controversial photos they released was of model Cheryl Tiegs in a fishnet one piece swimsuit that showed off every curve of her boobs, and what they considered much worse, her nipples, for all to see. While the photo was said to be a “throwaway” and “not intended for publication” it ended up being published anyway. And to make matters even more interesting is when asked about it now, ‘Sports Illustrated editor Terry McDonell tells CNBC he wouldn’t publish it today.’
