Although this particular cover wasn’t for the swimsuit edition, Sports Illustrated got extreme repercussion for what many claimed was ‘sexualizing a serious athlete.’ Back in 2015, tennis pro Serena Williams was named “Sportsperson of the Year,” a title that she seriously deserved. Of course the fact that Williams is shown sitting on a chair literally fit for a queen in a body suit that showed off her very long legs in an extremely sultry pose, some went as far as saying that she looked like “a hooker” and that she “wants one thing, and it’s not a chat with the line judge.” Say what you want but honestly, Williams doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone, no matter how she may choose to pose.
