The Swimsuit edition of SI is known precisely for how raunchy and race their photos are, so when they decided to feature two barely legal athletes, it wasn’t something that all the readers enjoyed. Simone Biles and Aly Raisman are both Olympic athletes with many young and adoring fans, so more than a few people felt that they were portraying themselves in a bad light. Of course the magazine’s editor for that 2017 issue, MJ Day, went on to explain, “Aly and Simone represent all that is beautiful and strong and inspiring in women today,” and honestly, we couldn’t agree more.
