Never Just Call It “Spanish”

Yes, Barcelona is a part of Spain but because the country has its own culture, language and history, the Barcelonés or Catalans, as they are also called since they are from Catalonia, prefer that they are referred to as such. First of all, there are a number of languages spoken in all of Spain, and theirs is called Catalan. Never just call the language Spanish, as they will think you are very rude. Rather, be sure to refer to their language with the proper name, and you can even try to learn a few phrases too.
