Puerto Rico may be affiliated with the United States, but poverty is still an issue here along with the crime rate, particularly in the tourist or more populated areas. With this in mind it would be best to keep a low profile by not flashing expensive jewelry or other valuables like expensive devices in crowded areas. If you can, avoid the tourist areas at night, but if you can’t resist it, keep your wits about you and be mindful of your surroundings, and leave your valuables in your hotel safe.
