After The Goldbergs immediate popularity on ABC, producers decided to create a spinoff named Schooled, which followed the character of AJ Michalka named Lainey Lewis, who played the girlfriend of Barry Goldberg on the original series. The new series moved fast forward 10 years to the 90s, where she is no longer the student but has since become the teacher. Although a number of followers believed that the show was doing well, ABC decided to end the show after just two seasons.
