This American-Senegalese singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor, may not be producing the hits like he used to during his prime. His most successful hits were “Lonely”, “Smack that “(featuring Eminem), “I wanna love you” (featuring Snoop Dogg), and “ Don’t Matter.” Akon loves his bling, and actually owns a diamond mine in South Africa. He explains though, that life was a bit complicated. The mine was initially met with some debate, considering the controversial film “Blood Diamond” was shown a year prior to the revelation that Akon indeed was the proud owner of a diamond mine. “I don’t even believe in conflict diamonds. That’s just a movie,” he justifies in an interview. “Unless you go to Sierra Leone and see what’s going down, don’t believe everything you’re reading or see on TV. Trust me,” he declares. Well, we suppose Akon would want his diamonds to last forever. And he only wears diamonds from his mine. They are like best friends. Gone are the days when diamonds were only a woman’s best friend.
