Clooney’s business partner Rande Gerber said, “As you do when you’re in Mexico, you drink a lot of tequila. After a couple of month’s trying different tequilas, George turned to me and said, Why don’t we just make our own? One that’s perfect for us to drink?” The brand Casamigos was born. After exclusively serving it to their inner circle for roughly 2 years, the brand finally got a license to go public, or risk losing its personal distiller. By 2017, the tequila company sold for almost $1 billion to spirits giant Diageo. This made Clooney one of the most successful celebrity investors ever. Tequila made him even richer than he was, not bad for a hobby.
