Julie Rice And Elizabeth Cutler, Co-Founders Of SoulCycle

Before meeting on “the best blind date ever,” Julie Rice worked as a talent manager in Los Angeles for two decades and Elizabeth Cutler lived in a Buddhist monastery and served on the board of the mental health support line, Crisis Text Line. Both new moms without any experience building companies and or any credentials to teach fitness classes, they drafted their vision and business plan on a paper napkin and founded SoulCycle, the spinning phenomenon that swept the nation. Rice and Cutler met thanks to their spin class instructor and co-founder, Ruth Zukerman, who introduced them to each other. Since launching the New York City-based fitness company in 2006, they’ve expanded their indoor cycling classes from 15 states in the US and two provinces in Canada to 100 studios all over the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
