Hayley Barna, Co-Founder Of Birchbox

The enchanting young Hayley Barna established the New York-based online cosmetics subscription service, Birchbox, with her good friend Katia Beauchamp. The two met while Barna was working to get her MBA at Harvard Business School where they developed a business plan and came up with a website that allowed them to acquire customers interested in an eCommerce experience focused on discovering new products. The two friends subsequently founded Birchbox in 2010, won the Leadership Award at Forbes Women’s Summit in 2013, and opened their first store in 2014. Though Barna has stepped down from her role as co-CEO in 2015, she remains an investor and board member. The following year, she joined First Round Capital, a company that provides seed-stage funding to technology firms, as a venture partner, and she was soon promoted as a general partner, making her the first female general partner in the company’s history.
