This breed originated in Turkey, and is large, rugged, and very strong. This muscular dog was used to guard sheep from jackals, wolves, bears, and even cheetahs. It can reach a height of 36 inches and weigh up to 150 pounds normally. They are intelligent, and independent. They know how to survive on their own, their instinct is to take care of themselves without needing instruction. They are good family companions, and will protect their family from threats. They are also loyal and friendly. But, they do love to eat, so take care not to overfeed them or they may easily go over their normal 150 pounds.
