Often called the French Mastiff, it is one of the oldest breeds in France. It is very muscular and powerful, like all Mastiffs, but not as tall and massive. It averages about 27 inches in height and 150 pounds.It has a massive head, and makes a good guard dog. It can haul and pull heavy objects as it is powerful. Unfortunately, they have one of the shortest life spans of any dog breed, at 5-6 years. But they make good companions, and love the outdoors. After exercise, they will nap by your side while you watch TV.
