The Alaskan Malamute

The Alaskan Malamute was originally bred as an arctic sled dog. It looks like an oversized husky, and many people who don’t know the difference get confused. While they are similar in so many ways, the malamute is a much larger dog, but that does not make it fiercer. They are loyal and very affectionate. They enjoy snuggling, but are pack animals. This means you have to lead them properly, or they will take charge and lead you. Leading them does not equate to being strict and harsh. Be gentle, but firm, and they will respect you. Their thick coat means they prefer the colder areas, and they also need regular exercise. Good companion to have, especially if you love to snuggle with a big furry pooch.
