Don’t Expect Everyone To Be On Time

Brazil, with its beautiful beaches and jungles, is a paradise of a nation. Being around so much nature has given Brazilians an ease with which they go about their daily lives. In other words—they generally are not sticklers for time. If you’re planning a get-together or a sightseeing trip with Brazilian friends, don’t be surprised (or angry!) if people turn up late. Timekeeping in Brazil is a different concept to timekeeping in other countries—people normally arrive about a half hour after the scheduled meeting time, but that doesn’t seem to bother the locals. Brazilians are a bit more casual and flexible about their schedules, and if you’re someone who likes to be early or on time for everything, this could easily be a source of frustration. Instead of letting someone’s lack of punctuality upset you, try to look at it as a new, laid-back experience. In other words, just chill.
