This cute, adorable bear native to China are herbivores that feed mainly on bamboo. They seem so docile and friendly. But looks can be deceiving. They need to have a strong bite force to penetrate the bamboo. While they have no taste for flesh, they will not hesitate to attack humans, for whatever reason, and can inflict serious and deadly wounds. It may not happen often, but it does. Not worth the risk really. So avoid trying to hug one when you see one, buy a stuffed toy instead.
