Hippos kill more humans in Africa than crocodiles or lions. They may seem easy-going and friendly, but they are very territorial. They may look awkward and clumsy, but they can run faster than humans and will attack relentlessly. We have heard stories of some people keeping them as pets. Even allowing to sleep beside them in the house. We have also heard stories of “accidental” deaths caused by these massive creatures. It goes to show you that you can never judge a book by its cover. Especially with wild animals. They were never meant to be domestic pets, and nature has its way of keeping things as it should be.
