Said to have been built by a very rich glass merchant, the Khan-e Abbasian is actually a set of six buildings that ‘is spread over several levels.’ What makes it so different is that many of its courtyards were built subterranean, meaning they were ‘excavated from the soil, not built on top of it.’ The idea was to give the place a bigger sense of space to make it as complex as it truly is. Not only is it an assault on the eyes, but the entire area is truly a sight to behold. Regardless of where you decide to spend your time while in Iran, just know that you will not be left disappointed. And we’re almost certain that it won’t be the only time you decide to visit this ancient and historic place.
