The Qara Kelisa is also known as the St. Thaddeus Church, which is also the ‘oldest and most notable surviving Christian monuments of Iran.’ It was the very first church that build back in 68 CE by Saint Thaddeus, who was said to be one of the apostles of Jesus, who traveled around in order to spread the word and teachings of Christ. The church suffered the horrid effects of an earthquake in 1319 but thankfully it was rebuilt so that others could be privy to its awe-inspiring beauty and amazing creation.
