Bathhouses, also known as ‘hammams,’ in Iran, were not only used as places to bathe and get clean, but they were also used as social places for both men and women to sit around, separately of course. Both men and women would gather together to chat and talk about their every day lives and other subjects that affected their town and citizens. The Ali Gholi Agha bathhouse had been built all the way back in 1713, and amazingly is still considered one of the most beautiful bathhouses that people can come and visit when in Iran.
