When you do go out and exchange your currency, avoid the small money exchange offices as most of these advertise 0% commission or no fees, with very attractive rates, but will only apply to certain “VIP customers” or those exchanging huge sums of money. If not, you will get poor exchange rates. In the event you get a high rate from these offices, they will make up for it through hidden fees which can sometimes reach up to 20% of the total exchange. Unscrupulous exchange offices won’t have any notices concerning fees or will have them only in fine print, or some may post a couple or more exchange rates.
