Located in the capital city of Prague and initially called Stone Bridge, Charles Bridge was the only means of crossing the Vltava river between Prague Castle and the city’s Old Town and other areas. The arch bridge, which is pedestrian-only, is over 2,000 feet long, and is decorated with 30 statues, forming two rows with one on each side, and include statues of St. John, St. Luthgard, and the Holy Crucifix and Calgary, among others. It is also where tourists who came to see the Astronomical Clock cross to get to Prague Castle, accounting for the foot traffic.
