Cher’s career was kickstarted when she met Sonny Bono who was working for Phil Spector, a record producer. He persuaded Phil to hire Cher as a session singer and the rest was history. Cher and Sonny did a little bit of trial and error with their stage names and finally struck gold in 1965 when they officially took on the music world as Sonny and Cher. Beyond her identity connected to Sonny, Cher branched out to movies, television, and eventually a solo music career. If anyone showed you a photo of Cher now, you wouldn’t believe she’s a day over 50. Many have accused her of getting plastic surgery but Cher says that a healthy and balanced lifestyle is the key to keeping her young.
