Tossing an object towards someone is disrespectful. Take time to hand it to the person properly, and remember to use your right hand, as the left hand is considered dirty. It seems normal to pass an object to another, like a pack of cigarettes, or any small object. But in Bangkok, you should never do that. Walk over to the person and hand whatever it is by hand. If it is money you are handing over, unfold the bills before giving it. Not only does it show respect for the receiver, it is the polite thing to do. It won’t take much effort, but it will gain you a lot of respect.
