Buddhist monks follow many rules, and one of them is not to touch a female, even accidentally.  So if you are in a public transport and see a monk, stay at least a meter away so that there will be no accidental touching. Respect the monks, it is more difficult to be one than it looks. Rumor has it that a tourist who did not know this rule tried to reach out to the monks who were parading. She got brutally shoved out of the way by locals around her. Aside from bruises she suffered falling to the pavement, the embarrassment must have been worse. True or not, this could really happen.
